The 4.2 metre Lineaeffe telescopic landing net handle looks idea for LRF fishing from high venues and it won’t break the bank.
I have been looking for a long handled landing net for LRF work from harbours, piers and rocks for some time now. My first purchase lasted one outing before a drop onto a harbour bollard saw one of the sections crack before it had been used in earnest.

While searching on Ebay I noticed the 4.2m Lineaeffe telescopic landing net handle, which at £15 looked worth a punt.
Solid Construction
The four hollow, glass-fibre sections vary in length from the 114cm butt section to the shortest section at 886cm. At the lower end the butt section has a comfortable holding diameter of 31mm and a wall thickness of 0.95mm. The other three sections have diameters of 29mm, 24mm and 20mm respectively and a wall thickness of 1mm. Without a net head the handle weighs in at 480 gms.
The butt carry section is secured with soft plastic caps at both ends, the lower being glued in place. I need to re-glue mine as I removed it to check the wall thickness of the sections.

The upper ends of each section are reinforced using a 12mm metal band apart from the thinest section which houses a brass standard 3/8 BSF fitting. I would ensure that the handle is washed in freshwater and dried after use to protect these bands, the threaded fitting and to safeguard the telescoping sections from grit and salt.

Held at an angle of 20o below the horizontal the handle will slide smoothly out to its operating length.
Use Sensibly
Like any long handled net you should not try to lift any fish horizontally, rather ship the net as pole anglers do and carry out the main lifting from the water in a vertical direction to reduce the bend in the handle.
This will make sure that the fully extended handle is not subjected to excessive forces when lifting a fish.
Although the glass-fiber walls are comparatively thick care should be taken not to dump it down on hard or uneven surface where the tubes could be damaged.
I have teamed the Lineaeffe telescopic landing net handle up with a Avanti landing net head from Sports Direct, the total cost of just over £20 gives me a great budget set-up for those bigger LRF fish that can’t be landed to hand.
A carry sling would have been nice but at the price and with its sound, robust construction the Lineaeffe telescopic landing net handle looks like it will be a great purchase and survive the occasional bump and thump.
