Good catches continued in the latest Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match held at North Shore Road, with plenty of flatfish close inshore feeding on the moulting shore crabs. Skegness local Richard Leighton made the most of this annual bonanza, running out easy winner with eight fat flounders and a dab weighing 9lb 1oz. Some way behind in second place was another in-form angler, Corby’s Paul Marshall, whose nine flatties and a silver eel tipped the scales at 6lb 4¾oz. He also shared the heaviest flatfish prize with Kettering’s Bob Foster, both with specimen 1lb 6oz flounders. Top Grimsby match angler Karl Nangle edged out Croxton’s Dave Burr by half an ounce to take third place with six nice flatties for 5lb 14oz. It’s hard to keep a good man down though and fourth placed Dave caught a 1lb 3oz bass to take the heaviest round fish award.
The next SPAC match will be held on Sunday 17th Jun from 3 till 7pm at Wolla Bank, with Club members fishing for the Goodrick Cup. There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate in. For further information please contact SPAC Secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988 or chastibble@hotmail.com
