Humberside/Lincolnshire/Yorkshire report

Farewell to a friend…

It is my sad duty to report the death of well known and respected local angler Harry Harrison following a heart attack. Harry will be sadly missed, and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Daiwa Open report: The Daiwa junior match was cancelled last Saturday due to the horrendous weather. Weather for the senior Daiwa event wasn’t much better, and many anglers chose to fish in the river for some shelter. Small fish dominated but Simon Drayton took a cod of over 8lb. Top honours and £2200 went to S. Field with a cod of 5.26kg from Ringborough. Second and £1100 went to Simon Drayton on 3.99kg, with A. Poulter third on 3.2kg. Kirsty Whitelock’s 0.86kg took the ladies event, with J. Forres top junior and sixth overall… well done young man. Great credit must go match organisers Commercial SAC, and especially Paul Jefferson works tirelessly for local angling.

Coming up: The Skegness RNLI match takes place on Saturday at Jackson’s Corner. It’s for a very good cause so please support the event. Then it’s the Beachcomber Open on Sunday.

Boats: Last Sundays boat match was weathered off. Match three in the Winter League Series takes place this Sunday… so fingers crossed for favourable weather.
