Lancashire Coast Sport Improves In Warmer Weather

by Jordan Russell

lancashire latest news logoFishing is on the up at the moment on the Lancashire coast with plenty of people catching, mainly from the Gynn Wall. With the warmer weather over the weekend we have started to see some thornback ray appear along with a few dogfish. Whiting have certainly thinned out and the codling are being caught in the right conditions, when the wind is strong from the west.

If this mild weather stays around now we will certainly see some summer species early but let’s just wait and see as there is chance it could turn cold again and have the reverse effect.

Yellow tails and squid are still the most productive baits along the coast whether it’s from the shore or boat.

Golden peg winner was Tony Baxter. Jordan would like to thank all lad and lasses that fished and the next match is on the 10th of March.

Fleetwood and District Angling Club fished in summer like conditions during their latest match at Five-Bar Gate. Although the wind was offshore there was a slight swell hitting the beaches.

Not much was expected, 21 of the 28 anglers competing caught fish. Catches mostly featured whiting and a few small codling together with half a dozen dogfish and a plaice.

Once again the man of the moment Craig Thompson won with a catch of whiting and a small codling.
