Skegness Pier Angling Club – Chapel Point – Hewison Cup 2016

by Chas Tibble

Fish were hard to come by in the latest Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match, held in poor conditions at Chapel Point. Grimsby ace Adie Cooper was the only angler to catch more than one fish, winning the Hewison Cup with two whiting measuring a meagre 64cm in total. Close behind in second place came Paul Denholm with a 58cm (1lb 8¾oz) lesser spotted dogfish, which also won him the longest round fish prize. To complete the total domination by Grimsby anglers, Garry Hutson and Ian Nelson shared third place, each with a 57cm (1lb 7¼oz) dogfish; which also gave them a share of the longest flatfish prize by default, as there were no flatties caught.

Hopefully things will improve for the next SPAC match, which will be held on Sunday 15th May from 9:30am till 2:30pm at Sutton Bridge, on the tidal River Nene. This is a closed match for SPAC members only, although non-members are welcome to join the Club then fish on the day.
