by David Proudfoot

A Humber SAC match on the Humber Bank Wall saw 11 hardy souls turn up for a session. Despite temperatures below minus six degrees and little tide run due to the neaps Gainsborough ace Simon Drayton managed to winkle out nine fish weighing 3.11lb including the biggest round fish a whiting of 26cm and a flounder of 33cm to top those who fished. Second placed Brian Tuck had 10 fish for 2.11lb ahead of Adie Cooper who finished third with 7 fish weighing 1.14lb.

The club’s next match is scheduled for this Saturday and it is the Cod Open; book in from 1pm at the Haven Inn. Fishing times are from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. If the weather conditions do not improve there could be chance that this match may be cancelled and a decision will be made on Friday. If you ring George’s tackle shop on 01472 693771 they will keep you up to date.

Bait suppliers Squids-In from Barton have had problems this week and they have been busy sourcing local worms to cover orders. They usually get their bait supplies from the Fleetwood area but the weather has stopped the bait from reaching the retailers.
