Good catches were again the order of the day in the Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) annual Xmas Fayre match held at Jackson’s Corner, with a very close finish between the top three anglers. Coming out on top again was Croxton’s Dave Burr, who fished in front of the Lookout Pub to catch 12 whiting weighing 7lb 3oz. Wrangle’s Alan Steadman framed again, catching 11 whiting and 2 nice dabs for 6lb 11oz in second place. In-form Alan also took the heaviest flatfish prize with his best dab weighing 10oz. Another of SPAC’s top match anglers came in third, when Friskney’s Mark Holmes used his long casting skills to catch 10 whiting and a dab for 6lb 2oz. There was a 3-way tie for the heaviest round fish award, with Dave Burr, Mark Holmes and Wayne Sumner, each beaching specimen 1lb 1oz whiting. The prize presentation was hosted by the Lookout Pub, where all the participants enjoyed a festive buffet.

The next SPAC match will be held on Sunday 5 December from 3 till 7pm at North Shore Road, with Club members fishing for the Beachcomber Trophy. There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate in. For further information contact SPAC Secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988 or chastibble@hotmail.com
