Norfolk News – Mundesley Pairs – 04-04-2016

A great turnout this week with 22 anglers fishing Mundesley beach to the right of the slip. It was a lovely warm evening with a flat calm sea. With reports of bass and smoothhound being caught it was anyone’s guess as to what would be landed.

Five minutes in to the match and Pete Hansell had landed the first dogfish of the night. Shortly after that Dave Aldridge managed a new species when he landed sole which, unfortunately wasn’t quite big enough to measure.

As darkness set in the usual whiting showed along with good size dabs and a few more sole were caught including a fish of 34cm for Simon Bone.

In total there were 18 whiting, eight dabs, nine dogfish, one rockling, one sole which made the size limits together with a 44cm bass which fell to Gary Moore.

In third place this week with three fish weighing 2lb 9¹/₃oz was Iain Molloy. Taking second place with a six fish bag weighing 4lb 13oz and included a bass and a dogfish was Gary Moore. Top spot this week with four fish including a whopping 76cm dogfish and a total weight of 5lb 8¹/₃oz was Leon Smith.

Well done to everyone it certainly was a pleasant evening fishing and great to see so many species caught.
