Humber Cruising Association, one of the biggest boat clubs in the UK, has published their match fixtures for the coming season. Last year’s winner, Mark Taylor, will be looking to defend his title in what should again be a closely fought league. Anglers will also be please to know that Baitbox will be continuing their sponsorship of the Cod Open which will be held on 20th March 2011.

There have been reports of a few fish in the river already for the boat anglers. Last year it started really well before falling off but hopefully the fish will remain for longer this season.

The Trading Post Tackle shop on Hainton Avenue, Grimsby is now stocking the range of Sonik boat and shore rods and the SR4 and the SR4 boat rods at 7’9 in length are ideal for fishing the Humber area.

On the shore front, Humber SAC were in action at Humberston Creek last Sunday and it was Adie Cooper who was in cracking form. Adie had sixteen fish for 12lb 3½oz, including the biggest flounder of the day at 37cm. Second in was Jack Barlow who fished the Creek after a practice session and resulted in nine fish for 5lb 4oz. His catch included a 22cm eel pout which earn Jack the prize for the biggest round fish on the day.

The club’s next match is on the 25th September on Courtaulds Straight fishing 6pm to 10pm.
