High winds, rough seas and big tides just don’t mix, all week apart from one day has been unfishable on the west side of the Fylde coast. Although some have ventured around the corner to Fleetwood in search of shelter from the wind and have been rewarded with a few small codling and bass.
Fleetwood and District Angling Club transferred their latest match from Five-Bar Gate to Donsfield Road because of the wind and height of the tide.
The conditions there were bearable, not a lot of weed but also not a lot of fish, despite conditions which looked good for codling. No one had more than one fish.
John Hodgson won with a codling of 41cm worth 30 points. This is John’s third win out of the last five matches. In second place was Gordon Brentford with a codling of 38cm worth 22 points, congratulations Gordon for your first pickup in a club match.

Sue and Martin shared the biggest fish prize with their 39cm flounders. The raffle was won by Sue Slater and the golden peg card by Roger Leeland. Thanks to the 11 members who braved the warm but wet weather.
