Winter Blasts Hits Lancashire Sea Anglers

by Jordan Russell

lancashire latest news logoIt is really is hard at the moment around the Lancashire coastline as there are very few venturing put in the cold condtions. The ones that have braved the elements are struggling. With the bad weather we had over the past two weeks it has certainly extended the traditionally slow time of year.

There are still fish to be caught, granted mainly small species such as flounder, dab and whiting. This really is a scratching time of year now as our winter species move out and we await the summer arrivals. As the temperature of the water rises the fish move closer inshore.

I do expect it only to be a few weeks till things start to improve. In the mean time the Gynn Wall, fishing with small hooks around size 4 or 2 fished flapper style with small baits, will produce. The plaice have started to show in numbers on the North pier and in Fleetwood channel with some good sized ones. Frozen/fresh black, rag or razor will give you a good chance of catching one.
