17 anglers turned out for tonight’s match at Mundesley, with flat calm seas and a summer like evening expectations were high for possible smoothhounds and maybe a ray. Pegging was again left and right of the slip, from the off weed was a bit of a problem but manageable.
Plenty of undersized fish were showing all along the match stretch A couple of pups at 45cm for Russell & Leon but sadly not big enough to record, schoolie bass also made an appearance, but again not sizeable.
With flat calm conditions the fish decided not to play ball tonight but one man shone brightly above all others and that was Leon Smith taking top rod for the evening with three sizeable fish, a cracking flounder at 32cm, followed by a dab at 24cm and a dogfish at 59cm giving him 2lb 121/3oz.
Second place and a first time on the podium was Keith Shaul with four fish for 1lb 4oz and final podium spot went to Dene Conway also with four fish for 1lb 22/3oz.
New names tonight were Darren Betts and his son Finn, Peter Francis and Dave Francis. Welcome to you all and hope you enjoyed the match even though the fish didn’t play ball, well done to everyone for sticking it out.
Next weeks match is back on the shingle at Weybourne please book in early.
