Floating Beads Do Work

by David Proudfoot

If you are not sure whether floating beads are effective this short video shows them in action. The oval beads in this case are 15mm long and 7mm at their widest.

The rig is pinned by the camera at one end and a lead at the other, 1.5m away. The other two snoods with floating beads are occasionally visible at the base of the rig.

The trace sits in the breakers in shallow water. Bait supported by the floating beads are single lugworms tipped with mackerel belly on a fine wire Aberdeen hooks.
