Specimen Scottish Tope

by David Proudfoot

Russ Roberts caught a massive tope from his own boat when fishing with his partner and daughter on Sunday. The fish banged the 55lb down hard and not having his bigger scales out with him Russ is left wondering about the true weight of the tope which measured 69 inches long and had a girth of 32 inches but it certainly tops 60lb.

The specimen shark was hooked off Garlieston in Wigton Bay on mackerel tail section bait and stripped over 150 yards of line from the reel during it’s inital run. After a 20 minute fight the fish was measured, photographed and safely returned.
