Scrabster hosted the North of Scotland Sea Angling Championship on June 28th. Fantastic weather and patchy fishing were the story of the event, with cod, wrasse, pollack and ling the main species encountered.
There were boat wins for Steve Souter, Bryce Watson and Gus Mackenzie, with lure and bait fishing effective on different boats. Daiwa’s Steve Souter took the title with an 88 point total on Stormdrift. Fellow Scotland international angler, Bryce Watson finished top on Hebridean Warrior with 85 points to take second spot, with Gus Mackenzie from Inverness winning Silverline with 62 points for third.
The pairs event was won by Steve Souter and Scott Gibson, while a 4.1 kilo cod won the heaviest fish section for Bryce Watson. Top boat was Stormdrift skippered by Davey Benson.
