A northerly swell overnight coloured the water but failed to fire the fishing in time for the Bank House Summer Open shore competition between Tynemouth and Seahouses. Joe Archer of Easington fishing at Seahouses landed the winning bag of seventeen coalfish for 21lb 1oz 10 drams. Steve Coverdale of Darlington fished Cullernose and bagged two cod for 8lb 9oz 8drams, including the second and third heaviest fish at 4-13-14 and 3-11-10. Colin Errington had the second heaviest fish a cod of 4-5-4 from Swine Dene. On of the 81 seniors and 4 juniors that fished, only 18 seniors weighed in.
