Top Grimsby match angler Karl Nangle ran out easy winner of the latest Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match, held in perfect conditions at North Shore Road. Fishing peeler crab baits on clipped down rigs at distance, he caught six dabs, a turbot and two large flounders, measuring 249cm in total. He also won the longest flatfish prize for his largest flounder, which hit the measure at 38cm (1lb 6oz). Wrangle’s Alan Steadman has had a quiet spell by his standards, but came good to take second place with six flatties and a silver eel for 196cm. Croxton’s Dave Burr framed again in third place, with an all dab catch measuring 125cm. Corby based junior angler Tom Marshall fished beyond his tender years to take sixth place with three fish for 98cm. Included in his catch was a 48cm silver eel, which won young Tom the longest round fish prize.
