Safety concerns for surfers at Sandilands necessitated a venue change of the latest Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match to Trunch Lane. The move was opportune for Skegness local Dave Bradley, who won the match with three cod weighing a total of 6lb 5oz. He also took the heaviest round fish prize for his best cod, which turned the scales to 3lb 3oz. In second place with a single cod weighing 2lb 5oz was another Skegness local Dan Leighton, who also took the heaviest flatfish award by default with his fish. The only other angler to weigh in was match organiser Chas Tibble, who dusted the cobwebs off his rods to take third spot with a first cast 2lb 2oz cod.

There have been several reports of small cod from local beaches, so prospects are looking good for the next SPAC match on Sunday 27th March from 10:30am till 2:30pm at Chapel Point, with Club members fishing for the Ex-Service Cup. There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate in. For further information please contact SPAC Secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988 or chastibble@hotmail.com
