Poor catches were again the order of the day in the latest Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match, held in ideal conditions at Chapel Point. Skegness local Dave Bradley caught a pair of matching dabs to win the Healey Cup with a meagre 14oz. He also took a half share of the heaviest flatfish prize, with either one of his 7oz fish. Stafford’s Dave Shorthouse had led for a long time with two small dabs and a tiny whiting, but in the end had to settle for second place with 12¾oz. Dave also won the heaviest round fish prize with his 2¾oz whiting. Alan Steadman was the other angler sharing the heaviest flatfish prize, also taking third place with his 7oz dab. One factor that may have affected the fishing was a pod of harbour porpoises that cruised along the match stretch within 10 metres of the shore and were feeding in front of the enthralled anglers!
The SPAC AGM will be held on next Saturday 22nd February commencing at 7:30pm in the New Park Club, Scarborough Avenue, Skegness. All current and prospective members are invited to attend. The annual Trophy Presentation and social event will take place immediately after the AGM, including a grand raffle and buffet.
The next SPAC match will be held on Sunday 23rd Feb from 9am until 1pm at North Shore Road, with Club members fishing for the Gordon Long Cup. There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate. For further information please contact SPAC Secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988 or email@example.com
