Bull produces meaty cod…
A fantastic 18lb 7oz cod has been caught aboard a private boat by Grimsby angler Brian O’Bee. Brian fished behind the Bull Fort and used squid bait to tempt the beauty which is biggest of the season so far.
Boat results: In the weekend’s boat match, Boston Pirates gave the HCA a good thrashing by over 60lb. One angler single-handedly weighed in an impressive 17 cod for 80lb. This weight was well supported by good bags from other club members.
Biggest fish in the HCA Winter League match belonged to Chris Banks, while heaviest bag went to Mark Briggs. Mark remains unbeaten this year on two match wins. Second place went Richard Stanley on 38lb 14oz, followed by John Pyle’s 38lb 9oz. The league after two matches reads: Mark Briggs 60 points, Richard Stanley 50 points, Richard Johnson 46 points and Tim Burgess 38 points. The next league match is on the 30th November. Will it be three-in-a-row for Briggs?
HCA club member Chris Jubb fished the Boat Fishing final at Poole last weekend where the fishing is very different to in the river at home. Better luck next time Chris!!
Shore results: George Smith won his first day zone in the Masters Final at Eastbourne and had the biggest fish. A zone second on day two earned him third place over all behind Rex Palmer and Dave Reed.
Karl Nangle fished the Preston and District competition at Blackpool. A zone first and a second got him overall second place in the two-day match behind local Ashleigh Sampson.
Garry Hutson was top rod in the Yorkshire Fed match at Skipsea Cleethorpes. Garry’s bag contained 16 whiting, a cod and a dab for 11lb. Keith Mumby was second, while a 3lb 12oz Rays bream for Callum Richardson was the heaviest fish.
Chris Mack won the Reckitts Winter League match with 3 cod, a bass and 2 whiting for 4.16kg. John Windle was second on 3 cod for 3.54kg, with John Atkinson third on 7 whiting for 2.09kg.
Paul Mcolin turned in 1.9kg in the Premier League, followed by Jamie Foxton’s 5 whiting for 1.83kg.
The Pure fishing match on the Humber bank wall was won by Mick Kinnaird with a single cod and whiting.
