Cleveleys And Fleetwood Channel For Codling

by Jordan Russell

lancashire latest news logoOn behalf of all at Lancashire Sea Fishing and Bispham Angling I would like to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

There are a few more cod showing this week mainly over low water at Cleveleys and also Fleetwood Channel with fresh live yellow tails still being the winning bait. Whiting have dropped slightly in numbers with some better ones now coming through. The frosts and cold winds seem to have put the dogfish out in to deeper water giving a better chance for presentation with your cod baits.

Fleetwood and District Angling club had a club match last Sunday on the Ferry beach at Fleetwood. The was only just enough room to get the eighteen entrants fishing among the pleasure anglers.

Not much was expected owing to a lot of fresh water coming down the river. Half the anglers weighed in a few small codling and whiting, but five in size codling caught. Black lugworm was top bait.

Most of the codling caught when the tide was still running comparatively hard.
