Result: Home International Shore Championships, Samphire Hoe, Dover, England

by David Proudfoot

This year’s Home International Shore Championship was fished at Samphire Hoe, Dover over July 4/5/6. Prior practice sessions quickly determined that there would be plenty fish to attack, with large shoals of pouting working tight in among the steel girders proving key in the final outcome. England won the senior event by the narrowest of margins, with only two points separating them and runners-up, Scotland.

In the Junior and Youth categories, it was so close that the result could have gone either way right up to the final whistle. Only a few centimetres split the teams, but Wales emerged victorious in the Youth event, while the England Junior team claimed top spot in the under 16 event.

Final Results are as follows:

Seniors:

1st – England
2nd – Scotland
3rd – Ireland
4th – Wales

Youth (Under 21)

1st – Wales
2nd – England
3rd – Ireland
4th – Scotland

Junior (under 16)

1st – England
2nd – Wales
3rd – Scotland
4th – Ireland
