England’s Richard Russell ran out winner of the EFSA Line Class Championships 2009. The one day event was fished out of Stromness in the Orkney Isles today, Friday 7th. All competitors used 6kg Ande line and most of the boats targeted spurdogs in this measure and release event.
Ireland filled the other two individual medal places with Roy Shipway taking silver and Mary Gavin-Hughes proving she can fish as well as skipper a charter boat in third.
The pairs title went to Richard and fellow Englishman Ken Smith with the Russian duo of Yulia Goncharova and Mikhail Dyshlyyk edging out Irelands Mick Clarges and Joe Byrne for the silver medal.
