In the last Humber SAC match fished from the shallows. Derek Miles was in fine form and finished in top spot with 2lb 3½ oz in front of second man Simon Drayton. Third place went to Dave Burr with 1lb 6½oz. Simon had the biggest flatfish on the day and club chairman Nigel Crabtree had the biggest round fish a 13cm coley.
This weekend it is match three of Neville’s Charlesworth summer series at Barton. Usually you fish this venue from the top and the fish come to feed around the grasses but with the very low tide the water will not reach this level and distance casting may be required. Maddies normally the favourite bait at Barton but crab may work better as bait when casting into the faster water and should pick up the larger eels.
I have been asked by very well know Norfolk match organiser Tony Thomas to let you know the forthcoming matches in the Norfolk coast. As good number of anglers travel down these matches they will be posted on the Calendar section of the site and can also be downloaded from here.
There is a new boat in the river called the Huntress run by Jim Walker – 07764232965, it is ultra fast and can reach the tope grounds in minutes. Bookings are available for 4, 8 and 12 hour trips. The vessel is a purpose built angling boat and is certified to SCV Category 2 to carry 12 anglers. There is plenty of room on board for fishing. It is fully licensed for 12 anglers. Predator has been running charters from Grimsby for some years now and with word that the skipper of the Lady Nicola is upgrading to a new vessel the future looks bright for boat angling in the area.
