It might just be me but I would have thought that carrying a paddle would be a good idea to get you out of trouble on the pedal kayaks. From my timed experiance years ago he may have been able to safely turn with the help of a paddle. And securing the gear is a good idea too, and expensive lesson.

Kayak fishing for tope but weather was a bit crappy and couldn’t anchor up so headed home after i caught 6 pollack. All in a days fun!!
