Multiplier – A multiplier reel is one where the line spool is carried on a revolving spool supported by bearings. It gets its name from the fact that the retrieve is geared so that one turn of the handle results in multiple turns of the spool. It is fished above the rod and may be fitted with a level-wind which lays the line evenly on the spool. Also known as a bait-casting reel or conventional reel in the States. The drag system may be either a star drag or a lever drag. For casting the multiplier is usually fitted with either a centrifugal brake or a magnetic cast control system.
Multi-strand wire – A cable style wire with seven or multiples of seven single wires woven together. It can be given a clear plastic coating.
Minimum sizes – the legal size at which a fish may be kept for the table or a size established by governing bodies or match organisers.
