Carapace – The body shell of a crab.

Casting – The act of projecting a lure or other terminal tackle out to sea using a rod and reel.

Cartilaginous fishes – A major group of fishes including sharks and rays they have internal cartilage instead of bones.

Catadromous – Refers to fishes that migrate from fresh water to salt water to reproduce such as the silver eel.

Casting weight – The weight or range or weights that a rod is designed to cast. Normally marked on the blank above the handle.
