Split ring – A round or oval, metal, spiral ring used to attach swivels or hooks to lures.

Spider crab – A long, legged, small bodied crab which is a popular bait when peeling.

Specimen – a large fish of any species which is approaching the record weight. Governing bodies maintain lists of specimen weights for each species.
