Weather Restricts Fylde Sea Angling

Well it’s not been the best week for weather with mostly it being unfishable for sea fishing on the Lancashire coast. The people that have got out in the gaps in the weather have been catching though. So very short report again due to the lovely English weather!

Fleetwood and District Angling Club fished their latest match on Marine beach, where they had the wind on their backs and a much flatter sea.

17 anglers fished and the fishing was a bit disappointing, mostly small plaice and flounder with a couple of sole, pup tope, eel, and a smoothhound for Trevor Barnett.

Blackworm was the best bait for the plaice and crab for most of the others.

Very close result Ken Forrest just piping Dave Norton by a single point, due to a last cast double.

2^nd Dave Norton 7 plaice for 54

3^rd Trevor Barnett 1flounder 1 smoothhound for 40 points

4^th Hughie Porter 2 plaice 1 sole for 32 points

5^th Andy Denton 2 plaice for 21 points

6^th = Neil Porter 1 tope 1 plaice and David G Hutchinson 1 flounder for 16 points

7^th Paul Smith 1 flounder for 11 points

8^th Tony Baxter 1 plaice for 6 points

9^th = John Foster 1 plaice, John Hodgson 1 tope and Peter Spike 2 flounder for 5 points

Trevor Barnett had the fish worth the most points a smoothhound of 60 cm worth 31 points. Next Sunday’s match is at Five-Bar Gate, Cleveleys with fishing from12.30 to 3.30pm.

Leyland District Sea Angling Club fished at match on a windy Morecambe beach.

1^st Fred Howard with 2 tope and the biggest fish a 56cm ray, scoring 106 points

2^nd Nigel Thompson with 2 tope and 2 plaice to 38cm, scoring 75 points

3^rd Michael Darlington with a tope & a ray, scoring 73 points

4^th Norman Pilkington also with a tope & a ray, scoring 63 points
