Skegness Pier Angling Club – September 2012

by Chas Tibble

Boston’s Mo Fendyke broke the Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) silver eel record in the latest SPAC match held at Drake Road. Although his superb 2lb 13oz specimen eel beat the old record by 9oz, unfortunately under catch and release rules it only counted for 11oz, putting Mo into equal fourth place. Dave Shorthouse has now moved to Stafford, but made the long journey worthwhile by winning both the Shipstone Cup and the heaviest flatfish prize with a specimen 1lb 3oz flounder caught on his penultimate cast. Top local lady angler Helen Bradley had been leading the match all the way through, but in the end had to settle for second place with a 1lb 1oz flounder. Lincoln’s Neil Jackson took third place with a silver eel and a weever weighing 11½oz. The last prizewinner was Corby’s Paul Marshall, who managed to catch a tiny ½oz (14cm) weever that took the heaviest round fish prize. This fish also won Paul the SPAC Knockout 2012, as his opponent Dale Evans failed to catch on the day.

The next SPAC match will be held on Sunday 23rd Sep from 10am till 2pm at Wolla Bank, with Club members fishing for the Sheffield Cup. There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate in. For further information please contact SPAC Secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988 or chastibble@hotmail.com
