Skegness Pier Angling Club – April 2014

by Chas Tibble

There was a ding dong battle for first place between two of Skegness Pier Angling Club’s top anglers in the latest SPAC match, held in perfect conditions at Winthorpe Avenue. The lead changed hands between Croxton’s Dave Burr and Kettering’s Jim Robinson throughout the match, with the final result coming down to the last cast. Jim pulled in his ninth dab to win the Derby Miners cup with a total length of 209cm, while Dave couldn’t add to his eight dabs and a weever, finishing second with 206cm.

Skegness local Dave Bradley came in third with two flatties for 60cm and shared the longest flatfish prize with his daughter Helen, both with 35cm flounders. Wrangle’s Alan Steadman struggled to catch a fish, but came good near the end of the match to take the longest round fish payout with an un-seasonal 20cm whiting.

The next SPAC match will be held on Sunday 27th Apr from 3 till 7pm at Jackson’s Corner, with Club members fishing for the Hewison Cup. There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate in. For further information please contact SPAC Secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988 or chastibble@hotmail.com
