The Lancashire post lockdown sea fishing is certainly in full swing now along the coast boat and shore. Plenty of species reported including dogfish, rays, whiting, sole, plaice, dabs, hounds, huss and bass all being caught. Most people are fishing high water and it’s producing close to high water with the night tides being more productive than the day tides.

Allan Cordwell had an early start on a short notice session on the Blue Mink from Fleetwood on a 05:30 sail. Social distancing protocols were in place and they were soon into the bay and fishing as the sun was rising.
Skipper Andy put us straight onto the fish and Allan decided to go all out for some bigger fish. Using whole mackerel on an 8/0 to 100 lb wire he accounted for a number of huss, with some of them into double figures.
After discussion with Andy, a quick bait change was made and within 10 minutes a small but welcome first tope of the season was boarded with help from the skipper. The assistance was much appreciated due to Allan struggling somewhat with a residual injury in his right shoulder from a road crash some weeks ago.

All went quiet for a while but then the bull huss reappeared and despite loosing a couple of good fish, another was eventually landed. All in all a really good day in good company. Thanks also go to Jordan Russell for supplying my finicky bait requests.
