Boats: On the Sunday it was league match 5 in the HCA winter league. The league is the closest we have ever had and it is still wide open and virtually anyone could win it. Sunday was glorious day and the prospects were good as there had been a lot fish about the days leading up to the match. The boats as usual were scattered all over the place. It was a frustrating day with few fish landed. Chris Banks fished at the Bull most of the day, before moving to the Cleeness buoy. He worked work hard to land a few cod and be top boat off the beach. Tim Burgess was joined by Peter Spendelow who used his vast knowledge and experience to locate the fish and they both had excellent days, but also they also suffered the frustration of lost fish.
Top man on the day Olly Call 39lb 6oz closely followed by Tim Burgess on 38lb 12.3oz and then it was Pete Spendelow 37lb 8oz. Fourth was Tony Hogg 33lb 13.5oz. The biggest fish of 8lb 4oz was a cod caught by John Pyle, while second was Wally from the Dangler with his 7lb 8oz cod.
It is currently very interesting in the league. Richard Stanley who has not missed any matches and is on 96 points. Second with one missed match is Mark Briggs on 94 points . Then it is Richard Johnson and I on 80 points and coming up they quickly is John Pyle on 78 points. The next match is a week on Sunday and with crab activity and the fishing moving about it could be an interesting match.
