Dave Brown was out to fish the flood after pumping some fresh worms before low. There was a bit of north wind at the start of the flood, not Dave’s favourite wind.
However it fished its nuts off with six rays, eight hounds, the best 9lb and a 3lb tope that he dropped! Dave also had a nice bass and a cracking sole for tea, over 20 fish tonight.
Last Sunday Fleetwood and District Angling Club fished their latest match on the Gynn Wall at the Miner’s Home. Conditions were good but unfortunately the fish did not perform.
The match was for the best combined flatfish and round fish and right up to the last cast no one had one of each until Ray Rodger reeled in a weever to add to his flounder giving him the win.
Congratulations to Ray for being the only angler to manage it.
The other prizes then went to the fish worth the most points. Mawdesley and David G Hutchinson both had smoothhounds worth 70 points for equal second place and Phil Lamb had a tope worth 33.5 points for third place.
A very disappointing match seeing as it has fished fairly well over the previous couple of days.
No matches next week with it being a bank holiday.
Next match is on Sunday September 5th fishing from Beach Road to Dronsfield Road.
