Fish Around The Fylde Coast Despite Poor Weather

by Jordan Russell

lancashire latest news logoWhat a week! Rain wind and more rain making most days unfishable, it’s like winter.

With the weather set to improve this week and the tides on the rise there will be plenty of people fishing, along with good numbers of fish being caught.

There have still been a few brave souls trying low water as the winds eased and the height of the tides made it fishable in shallow water over low tide. Some nice sole are being caught on black lugworm and ragworm with very small hooks fished flapper rig style close in.

We seem to have had another great year for bass with multiple bass being landed all the time now all along the coast. Black lugworm fished on a 2/0 pulley rig has been the best tactic when fished close in, into the surf/waves.

The pier members have been getting among the fish with some rays, tope pups, dogfish, whiting and flatfish. Fish baits mainly putting the fish on the decking.
