Summer Species On The Lancashire Coast

by Jordan Russell

Still plenty of fish about this week on the Fylde coast with the Gynn Wall generally being the most prolific. The sole are about in big numbers together with bass, the occasional flounder, small gurnard and the usual tope pups and smoothhounds. Once again the rag worm is catching almost everything that swims even out fishing crab again. Very quiet at low water at the moment with nothing to report really but not many anglers have been fishing the low water mark.

Fleetwood and District Angling Club fished the Wall last Sunday at the Miner’s Home. It was definitely the Grim Wall as not much was caught. Just over half the eighteen anglers fishing caught fish.

Most of the landings were sole, small tope and smoothhound. The winner was Mark Hindley closely followed by Barry Critchley. Best baits were ragworm for the sole, and crab for the smoothhounds.
