Humberside/Lincolnshire/Yorkshire report 24/04

by David Proudfoot

Local angling legend and veteran angler Jim Greer showed the young pretenders how to do it at the last match for Humber SAC. Fishing at the creek Jim showed his years of flair and expertise, by catching seven flounders for well over three pounds. Next was the young pretender himself Adie Cooper he is keeping up his impressive record and a placing in nearly all the matches this year. Then it was another veteran Frank Sparkes. Nice to see Frank in the prizes.

This Sunday it is the last in the Winter Series of the HCA winter league and anything could happen there is still a few cod in the river but there has been an increase in the number of rays being caught and also bass. The anglers will no doubt have their own personal area to try , but I think that it could be an interesting affair.

There have been anglers who have already been into Georges tackle shop and ordered crab and rag worm. It could be day for lighter tackle and trying different techniques. As I mentioned last week the top two places are all but decided but it is the next places it is between around ten anglers.

On the subject of Georges Tackle box he has obtained more crab suppliers this year and also the wild rag worm is starting to come in, but you must order early he has only got limited stock. So do not expect to get bait on the day, go and order it first.
