Humberside/Lincolnshire/Yorkshire report

by David Proudfoot

Winter Shore Series kicks off shortly

Shore: Makro was the venue for the final of the Yorkshire NFSA Summer series. A very high tide meant the sea went a long way out, leaving little water fronting many pegs, and consequently there were a large number of blanks. Jeff Volley came through to win.

Humber SAC fished a match at the Shallows where Richard Leek was the winner with a 7lb 12oz bag of flounders. Pin whiting also showed along the Humber bank wall. Better whiting are likely on the next set of high tides if the weather keeps up.

The Jez Waters Winter Series kicks off shortly. The first match is at the Humber Bank Wall on Friday September 19th September, with fishing from 19.15 to 22.45 and the venue is the Humber Bank wall. Anglers should meet at Tioxide Pavilion.  If you intend to fish this league then it’s £10 all in. Notify Jez in advance please so that all pegs can be booked in.

Boats: Mackerel fishing patchy but enough can be located for bait purposes with persistence. Local tope fishing is slow but there is evidence of some good fish despite being late in the season. ‘Georgie D’ fishing the wrecks finding a good number of different species including a few cod. Other boats taking bass, smooth hounds, whiting, dabs and flounders. Ragworm best for bass, with crab baits are better for general species fishing.
